Early birds bring extra challenges.
When your baby is born early there are so many extra worries that you have to carry and that can take a serious toll on you as a parent! Did you spend your first few days or weeks (or longer) in the NICU? Now that you are home, are you busy keeping up with frequent doctor visits and specialist appointments? Life with your baby is likely not quite what you imagined.
You are not alone!
Being the parent to a preemie baby can be a lonely experience but it is important to know that you are not alone. There are so many others who are right there with you or who have made it through to the other side! Peer support matters.
Monthly support circle meet-ups
The wonderful Rejeanne Martin, mother to one preemie baby herself, will lead a Preemie Parent Support Circle once a month in the Hello, Baby! hub. Rejeanne is a trained NICU parent mentor through Mt. Sinai Hospital and a huge advocate for babies in a hospital environment, promoting kangaroo care, attachment and bonding and breastfeeding assistance. She is a birth and postpartum doula and Hello, Baby! is so happy to have her as part of the community.
The monthly support circle will be a chance for parents with preemies to connect and share their experiences and resources. Enjoy a cup of tea, a comfy couch, and the company of people who understand.
