Reiki is a gentle form of energy healing that works intuitively with your body, mind, and spirit. Drawing energy in, shifting blocks, or letting things flow, a Reiki session leaves you feeling lighter, at ease, and more balanced.

What is Reiki?
The practice and tradition of Reiki has a long history but to put it simply: Reiki is energy!
The word Reiki can be translated to mean “vital life force energy” - gentle, intentional and always working for your highest good. Reiki energy will always work intuitively with your body, mind, and spirit to facilitate the healing that you need which makes it perfect for anyone who is open to healing.
What are the benefits of Reiki?
Reiki is a beautiful combination of energy work and touch therapy that can:
Soothe aches and pains
Resolve headaches and migraines
Lower blood pressure and heart rate
Reduce anxiety and depressive symptoms
Provide deep relaxation & a sense of ease
Offer a unique opportunity for self care
What happens during a Reiki session?
When you come in for your Reiki session, you will join Jenn, a certified Reiki Practitioner, in the Reiki Room located towards the back of the Hello, Baby! shop. You will get comfy on the treatment table (just like the one an RMT would use for massage!) and, laying on your back fully clothed, you will settle in with pillows and blankets as desired. The lights will be dimmed and meditative music will be played to help you feel relaxed and comfortable. During your Reiki session, Jenn will move through a series of hand positions generally beginning with your head and moving down the body, ending with your feet. Laying her hands gently on your body, or if it is more comfortable for you, placing her hands several inches above your body, the Reiki energy will be passed to you to begin its work. All you have to do is open yourself up to healing and relax.
Is Reiki safe when I am pregnant?
Reiki is perfect for you when you are pregnant. Not only can it help you physically and emotionally as you move through pregnancy and prepare for birth, it can help baby, too!
Reduce exhaustion and nausea during the first trimester
Soothe tired and achy joints + back pain
Balance your mood and emotions
Connect with your baby in a positive and purposeful way (watch them move and wiggle in response to the Reiki treatment!)
Reduce anxiety and sleep problems,
Release fears about pregnancy, birth, and parenting
Combine your Reiki session with the 3 Sisters of Balance
The 3 Sisters of Balance are a series of movements/postures suggested by the amazing folks at Spinning Babies. They are safe to begin practicing around 20 weeks pregnant (as long as you have no medical contraindications for exercise and gentle movement) and can help balance the pelvis and surrounding areas to make you more comfortable and to help baby get into or stay in an optimal position for birth!
Belly Sifting relaxes tight uterine ligaments and abdominal muscles
The Forward Leaning Inversion can help to release a twist in the lower uterine segment which let’s baby’s head settle into a better position or helps make space for a breech baby to turn
The Side Lying Release helps to smooth out the muscles of the pelvic floor which makes the baby’s journey through the pelvis easier during birth
Combining these movements with the gentle healing of Reiki is a wonderful way to make the most of the experience. Relax your muscles, lean into the postures guided by a trained Doula, and then round out your session with some deep relaxation to let your body and your baby settle in.
